Heather Fleener has done it again!! This book was amazing such an emotional ride and I loved every minute of it!! I have loved this series since the beginning and now even more Tristan and Alia's story was so up and down and I loved the fact that we got so much Ancients history and found things out that we had been wanting to know or just made things a little more clear. Poor Alia has such a hard time coming back to the Realm seeing so much had changed, and some things she thought, were not true. Then you cant help but feel bad for Tristan he suffered so much while she was gone, I just loved him well it was an love hate relationship some times I loved him others I hated him...Truly Mistaken was an amazing book the best so far in the Series Heather my dear you have really put together such a Fantastic world for us to escape to. If you have not read this book please do it is such am amazing book you will feel every emotion the characters go through you will laugh , Cry be mad or curious, and all of the Favorites from the first 3 books are back and sassy as ever! Hot Vamps, Sassy Witches and a whole lot of craziness!! What more could you want.Product details

I am writing my review in the hopes that the author will let me have the next book next year instead of waiting until 2025. D Inside Joke between me and her. Anyway with that said, I really enjoyed Mistaken. I loved the history of the Great Betrayal and the flip of the Vampires of the Dark to the Light. But I mostly enjoyed the story of Tristan and Alia. They way their relationship started and grew, to how the Betrayal affected them and how it twisted and turned with a few surprise reveals and of course hints for the next book. But I did love how the story came full circle and how Tristan and Alia came back together, with both of them being very supportive, compassionate and understanding in the end to a wonderful reconciliation for the both of them.
In the end I loved being brought back to current events and of course my favorite part being for all previous characters being a part of the ending battle of the book. Of course we would, since we still have a few more to add to the circle of Witches as they lead to end the Darks. But it's still awesome how the author has come full circle with all the previous books, and dealt with each person as individuals but as a team.
If you have not read the beginning of the series, please take a moment to read Chosen. And see where you end up.
Mistaken is book 4 in this series so if you have not read the first 3 books in the series that is where you must begin starting with Chosen.
Having said that, hands down this is a must read, the first half of the book is really giving us insight into what happened in the past and brings us up to speed on the Nature Witch, Alia and her life before The Great Betrayal, that is brought up in previous books. Alia is a fascinating character and I thoroughly enjoyed reading her story. She unlike Kat and Ella is an Ancient and we get to find out what makes her who she is today. Her love story is an epic tale that has many hurdles to overcome pitting her and Tistan against the Dark ones if they have any hope of their love surviving. This book had me laughing and crying and I could hardly put it down. I hope you enjoy reading Alia and Tristan's story as much as I did.
Entertaining and perversely romantic (the battle for love to overcome obstacles is lengthy and full of spirited retorts and cave man tactics) as always this book charms the reader from the first page to the last much the same way the previous books have done. It is beautifully written with a very clever world-building more obvious in this book as it takes us back to the start before drawing us into the present to prepare for the future. Does this sound a little obscure, confusing? It isn't at all as everything falls into place as all our characters and not just Alia and Tristan gather to finally deal with the forces of the Dark. It is a masterpiece of jig saw pieces falling into place as purposes begin to reveal themselves. I love the humour, the clever plot, the romantic leads and the continued foray into the world of vampires and witches who live in this incredible realm on the fringe of unaware humans.
If I was to offer a criticism it would be perhaps the discussion of time. I found Alia and her disappearance for a millennium a little jarring. To exist for so long without any kind of relationship, and where exactly and how exactly does she survive to then reach the modern day and become famous? To not question her decision about her mate and herself and just exist? It was too long a time away from the action and too long a time for Alaric for instance not to have caused more damage if his purpose was to rule the world so to speak, and given his evil partner it makes no sense. How could so much go unnoticed? The other thing is how exactly do the vampires feed, that is on whom and when? Their mates? This would make sense but then what do the others that are unmated do? This is never discussed and could be left alone but the book is too good to have ambiguities, or unexplained bits and pieces despite the fact that it is often a trend in the paranormal genre. I feel strongly that the warmth and fluidity of words and plot the author brings to her books raises them above this but understand other readers may not really consider this important.
I may question some things but it doesn't alter the fact that I enjoyed the book anyway, more than that I loved reading it and will wait with pleasure for the next one. Heather brings delight and joy to the reading experience and makes us wish for more hours in the day to do more.
